Bio

I have been interested in family history since the mid-1970's and interested in cemeteries since childhood when we often walked to Lewis Cem a small rural cemetery where we read the stones, told ghost stories and noted the tragedy of infant mortality.
Much research has been done on my Gerrish family since they were an early New England family arriving in Newbury, MA in 1639. But much less is known of my mother's family so at this time I am more interested in learning about her Small, Holton, Ramsay, Ogle, and Light families, the first 2 in PA and the others in Canada, Scotland and Ireland.
Besides my own family I am deeply involved in research of the small rural cemeteries of Carrigan Twp, Marion Co, IL: Lewis, Harrison (where approximately 70% of the burials have some connection to my 3x-Great Grandfather, Henry Gerrish), Phelps and Wisher (listed here as Burton/Kissner/Wisher).
Any new information to add to the memorials I have created as well as information on my own lines is greatly appreciated.
Though my ratio of managed memorials to created memorials is high, I AM NOT a hoarder aka number person. Most of my memorials which I did not create came from the accounts of deceased or inactive contributors. If I have no connection whatever to a memorial that I manage I am always happy to find someone who would like to take it over. And I am just as happy to receive any and all that have a connection with my extended family.

You may use tombstone photos which I have posted for your personal, non-commercial, non-internet use without asking further permission. When taking photos from a memorial please document my full name as it appears here and the memorial number from which it was taken.
I have several hundred old family photos from 85 or more years ago. I have extremely mixed emotions about posting them online because I know there are people who will copy them and claim them and treat them as their own. But I want other family members to have an opportunity to see these pictures. Please contact me for permission to use any of these family pictures.
Please let me know if you have a photo identical to any of mine, because that would mean we are probably related. I love to hear the stories behind the photos and make connections to new found relatives.
DO NOT POST ANY OF MY PHOTOS ONLINE ANYWHERE! That includes other FindaGrave memorials.
