Bio

I am a first generation Hoosier born in Batesville, IN in 1956. My dad moved to Indiana in 1950 with his family when my grandfather Colonel Eldridge got a job at the Alton Box Board Factory in Aurora.
My mother and dad (and all my ancestors except for my mom's dad) are from Letcher County, KY. I am descended from all four Caudill brothers---James, Jr., Stephen, Thomas Aaron, and Matthew, Sr.--who settled in what is now Letcher County circa 1800. I am also descended from Isaac Whitaker, Peter Crase, Henry Back, and Levi Eldridge.
My dad Kenneth was born IN 1931 on Bull Creek Mountain, Carcassonne, KY. My mother Glenora Bryant was born in 1936 on Johnson's Fork, Letcher County, KY. Her father James Arthur Bryant was from the Sequatchie Valley of Tennessee, born in 1885. He was a coal miner and moved to Bell County, KY some time before or during World War I. Then he moved on to Letcher County in 1921/1922 where his first wife, two of their four children, and his sister in law all died of typhoid or cholera in a coal camp within a 10 day span of time.
His second wife (and her second husband) was Melvina Whitaker Blair. Both had been widowed. My grandmother's first husband Hiram Blair accidentally shot himself while squirrel hunting and died later of blood poisoning.
I have two grown daughters Amanda born in 1982 and Whitney, 1987. My beautiful granddaughter Alexa was born in 2008 and my baby boy grandson Josh was born in 2011.
I have just moved (May 2014) to Florida.
I am a musician, historian, outdoorsman, longhunter re-enactor (see my profile pic) and an avid genealogist with over 13,000 names in my own personal genealogy database.
I will help you as much as I can if it has to do with Letcher County, Kentucky, Sequatchie and Marion Counties, Tennessee or these surnames: Eldridge, Crase, Caudill, Whitaker, Bryant (of Sequatchie Valley origins), and any associated names.
I would be happy to manage any memorials here, if you want me to. And I will do my best to post photographs and update any information I have or come across.
And I eagerly desire to correspond with anyone about any of the cemeteries and Memorials, or family genealogies of those mentioned above!
