A Texan's family tree is like a beautiful rose with many fragrant petals, but with any rose, you have thorny branches that needs pruning on occasion....the same goes with families.
Beatitudes of the Family Genealogists:

Blessed are the great grandmothers, who hoarded newspaper clippings and old letters, For they tell the story of their time. Blessed are all the grandfathers who filed every legal document, For this provides proof. Blessed are the grandmothers who preserved family Bibles and diaries, For this our heritage. Blessed are fathers who elect officials that answer letters of inquiry, For some, this is their only link to the past. Blessed are mothers who relate family traditions and legends to the family, For one of her children will surely remember. Blessed are the relatives who fill in family sheets with extra data, For them who owe the family history. Blessed is any family whose members strive for the preservation of records, For theirs is a labour of love. Blessed are the children who will never say, "Grandma, you have told that old story twice today."written by Unknown;

I also try very hard not to 'duplicate', but every now and again, one get's through. Please know that it wasn't intentional. If you'll let me know, I'll delete them.

James Franklin Smith #107818691
Hi Nancy, I think this memorial page is a duplicate of one made for J Frank Smith 1905-1970 at Piedmont Memory Gardens in Calhoun County, #76986341. This is the same cemetery that his brother, John William and wife are buried at. Also this grave at Piedmont has 'Stella P.' 1903-1961 sharing a gravestone. That could be his wife, Alice Estelle Pope. Something to look into.

Trying to find links to my family
From what I was always told, my great grandmother's family (the White's, Alexander's, Morgans and Faulk's) were all related to her. I have not been able to trace her at all. All I know is my grandfather told me one day while at the cemetery that Lucinda Faulk was my 3x grandmother. My great grandmother I am referring to was Vivian White Nelson. She married Hiram Nelson. She was born in 1888 and is buried in Beulah Baptist Cemetery. Do you have any information further. I know she also had a sister named Claudia.

Mary Frances Sloman
I was doing some research and found that 2 Find A Grave sites exist for Mary Frances Sloman Poythress Wynne. I have enjoyed your site which appears to have much more documentation that supports your findings.

The other site is Find A Grave # 26687275. I did not contact Find A Grave directly, and the owner of the other site has her messages turned OFF. Maybe you can contact Find A Grave about how to merge both sites. There should not be two such disparate sites for the same person.

BTW: My families are from mainly GA, but go back to the Carolinas, and VA. I'll keep a lookout for your surnames.

Thanks Cousin,

Gwen Bell Darby

Polly Elminer Bradley
Polly Elminer Bradley was the second wife of William Kirkham Smith. They must have married after the death of William's first wife Amy Salina Celina Smith passed away in 1864. William and Amy are enumerated on the census for -1850:Union, Lafayette, Arkansas -1860:Natchitoches, Louisiana 18Sep. William and Polly are enumerated on -1870:Precinct 2, Upshur, Texas -1880:Athens, Henderson, Texas 12Jun. William and Amy were married 21 Nov 1840 Chambers C Alabama. Smith must be Amy's maiden name.

Kersey Family
I just did an edit on the page for Robert Kersey. He died in 1862 not 1882. This is proven by the aapraisement of his estate on 4 Dec 1862.

I also wanted to let you know that there is now a group page on Facebook for the descendants of John Kersey and his wife Ursula Vaughn who are Robert's ancestors. I would like to invite you join. Here is the link:
