Bio

I'm a retired Dental Hygienist who has been interested in genealogy for 40 years...My roots are German/Austrian (surnames Gehrman, Hastreiter, Meller, Heindl and Schwindler) and my husband's are Sicilian (LoTempio, Fasciana, Terranova, Leone)...All but one of our grandparents were born in Europe so I've been able to research only so far in the United States ... that's why I enjoy volunteering and helping folks add facts and photos to their tree...

The highlight of my Find-a Grave experience came after 10 months a member, this while filling a request in a church cemetery in Lancaster,N.Y...came across my grandchildren's 2x great grandfather, Lucius Winship Jones' grave and almost dropped my camera!! I had been searching for him for 5 years!...had no info other than the 1920 census in another county 50 miles away..

PLEASE add photos, dates, family links to your ancestor's memorials...I have been working mainly in Mount Calvary Cemetery and Holy Sepulchre, photographing and trying to connect families but could use your help adding the personal touch to a memorial...I would love to know if I helped with unknown info for your family tree.

"A cemetery is a history of people - a perpetual record of yesterday and sanctuary of peace and quiet today. A cemetery exists because every life is worth loving & remembering always." Unknown

These are a couple of the reasons why I do this...

"You found my great-great grandmother, Catherine - I searched for her for 4 years and finally found your photo (posted in Feb). The only reason I know of her is because of your generous-hearted work."

"Carol, thank you for your work with findagrave. My grandmother told me decades ago about her sister Rosa, who died young, but until I found this picture I was unable to find any evidence she existed except for what my grandmother said. Thanks again - that picture is worth much more than 1,000 words."

Hi Carol, I was so happy to find ANYTHING on here regarding my grandmother. She passed when my mom was 7 and we have absolutely been scouring the earth looking for info on her. I plan to make the trip from Ohio to New York to actually try to find her headstone. Thank you for all you do...this made my day!

Carol,
I can't begin to thank you enough for the picture! My family knew nothing of my grandfathers side of the family other than a few stories we couldn't confirm. My grandmother worked diligently for years to find any info with countless dead ends. I have been a part of this journey since I was a small child, today, with your help I have the proof to the questions 3 generations have been searching for! I will remember this day until the day I die! You will forever be known as the key to solving our family mystery! Thank you from the very bottom of my heart for your dedication and understanding of the importance of family history! God Bless you always!

Thank you TONS
Its folk like you that brighten up days for people like myself, so far from where the family came from, so long ago. The images you have given me (and the world) for genealogy, for tracing family steps is GREAT. There is a dimension added by your work- memorials and images- that can not be replaced nor underestimated. Z
