The number of memorials for Leverington Cemetery is now near 10,500. I am saddened by the number of babies, children and young adults that are buried here, their numbers are great and the pain that their parents went through. there are children in the same family that were buried the same day, in a few cases it appears parents and children buried the same day, make me think possibly a house fire. It make you appreciate today's technologies and what it does to save lives.

There appears to be over 13,000 burials here, most without markers, I will finish with photos here through this spring and summer.

For those who are interested the first two burials here were:
Lavinia Battersby
Ann L Battersby
On Feb 7, 1857

Children of James Battersby of Manayunk

There are no markers for these children

They are the first first burials for Leverington and does not include the burials behind Roxborough Baptist Church which was late incorporated into Leverington.
