I love the peace and quiet of cemeteries. (There are no telemarketers calling.) I also love taking pictures. The exercise is at my own pace. The stones are interesting, and they absolutely need to be documented before they are lost to the ravages of time.

I'm 10 generations forward from my Mayflower ancestor George Soule. I'm 13 generations from my New Haven founder Capt. Nathaniel Turner. 13 Generations is 1024 direct ancestors (doesn't count siblings etc.) My husband also has 1024 direct ancestors going back to the Mayflower. That's 2048 direct ancestors. I haven't found them all in the 40+ years I've been researching. But I'm still looking. Thanks to all of you members at Find a Grave, who are making finding their burial places easier.

PLEASE use the EDIT tab for suggestions, corrections and transfers. I'm happy to make changes, but I'm going to ask you for a source, if it's not directly on the stone. (Using the new edit system you can send source information through the "Suggest any other correction or addition" line.) The internet is a wonderful thing for genealogists but it's also very good at spreading misinformation, and I am trying very hard not to spread undocumented genealogy. That's one of the reasons I love Find a Grave, because I can look directly at a gravestone and see exactly what it says and don't have to depend on second and third hand information. Happy hunting.
