I've been doing Germans from Russia research since 1994. My own family research goes back to the early 1600s in Germany and the Alsace region of France. The early 1800s took both sides of the family to the Glückstal and Kutschurgan colonies in Russia, now Moldova and Ukraine respectively. The late 1800s to early 1900s again brought both sides of the family to North and South Dakota and scattered across the western United States.

2015-Oct-17 I will not add narrative biographies that do not provide at least one or more sources supporting the facts in the bio. If there is a discrepancy of an unsourced bio, I will do the research when I'm able and include documented facts only.

2017-Mar-28 Any corrections that state "Russia" for the birthplace of a person of German from Russia heritage will not be processed. It doesn't matter if that's what the obituary says. Russia today as it is in Find a Grave is not the same as Russia was between 1763 and roughly 1939 when ethnic Germans settled there. Please include the ancestral village name or look it up on the maps at https://www.germansfromrussiasettlementlocations.org/ and submit the current village/town/city name.
