Bio Photo My husband, Larry and I have been married for 40 years. We have 3 wonderful children & 5 beautiful grandchildren. I am addicted to roaming around in cemeteries and working on mine and my husbands family trees! I find cemeteries to be peaceful and full of history, so it didn't take me long to get hooked. I was bitten by the genealogy bug about 15 years ago and visiting cemeteries has been a huge part of finding our families roots. Larry has been a great sport about going with me even though he would MUCH rather be golfing!!!

Sparkman graves
Hello Kay. I'm Wanda Davis Tilley. I am descended from (I believe) Jim Sparkman and Johannah. I am wondering what is the meaning of the slate rock over the grave markers? Does it refer to native American? We were told by our mother that her grandmother was indian. Martha Angeline Sparkman was her name. She and husband Jacob Irvin Stipe moved to Polk Co. AR and died here and are buried here. Would appreciate any info on the afore mentioned markers. Thanks.

RE: Evans
The second Evans marker at Mountain View feels like it is about 2 inches below the grass according to my skewer. I'll see if Mountain View will give me permission to uncover it next time I'm up there.

Evans requests at Mountain View
Please call the cemetery office and get the lot and grave numbers your request. We, or others, will be happy to take the photos that you desire.

Plot 48 is fairly large and strangely laid out.

Mountain View Cemetery Phone: (510)658-2588

Edit your records to indicate the plots and the locations will automatically show up on your requests.

RE: Robert Roark
so you would be related to My nephew. its only taken me 20 years to convince him I needed to do his family history. lol I was thinking the same thing about the one in California. mostly because most of the fellows thought it was going to make the rich. My husband had one like that also and he was never heard from again when he left.
maybe we can figure this out in the new year.

RE: Robert Roark
I did find Robert in Texas living with his Uncle John Howell. i think it was Johnson co. TX

I found two peter roarks in 1860 one living in Califoria single right age and b Ky one living in shoot cant remember now but he is the right age and b ky also single. found one in Mo married with kids. b in 1811 so he is a little older than Roberts father Peter. I would have to check on 1870 and 1880 and see if they are still in that same area or not. but either one could be him. I will let you know.

Robert Roark is one of my nephews grandfathers.
his son William Floyd had a son named William Henry and that is my nephews dad. this is a nephew by marriage. he married my sister youngest daughter.

thanks Sue

peter and Tabitha Roark.Ruark
Hi Kay, I am doing research on Robert Daniel Roark who was also the son of Peter and Tabitha Roark. Do you know where they went after the 1880 census in TN.
