RE: Thankslord Shepard
Hi, S. Tosh! Thank you for answering. I'm reviewing an entry dated Aug. 01, 2008, to Kent Shepard. In it you write that Thankslord is buried in Charlestown,MA. That was what I was wondering about. Have you ever answered Rachel (Taylor)Anthony who wrote in Aug. 13,2011 that she had "confirmed" that the maiden name of Thanks Shepard was "Lord", etc. It's the same Lord/Bird("Lord/Mitchell/Bird/Marsead line" that R. Anthony referred to)that is well known in Hartford CT history. On my father's side also,I descend from this Lord/Bird couple. I don't know why one would think that Thanks "lord" was not part of her given first name as she was considered the only woman to emmigrate to New England in the 17th C. with that name,ie."THANKSLORD". There were "Thankful"s,but not"Thankslord"s, except for our girl. My late father was quite certain about that. He started genealogy and publishing in 1919-20 when he was 19 yrs.old and knew serious genealogists of the day. If anything were to be proven otherwise, he would acknowledge it and correct it. Dad would have been delighted to learn that her maiden name was, Perkins, as was trying for years to find it. He corresponded with genealogists in England on that and other knotty problems. He also didn't know that Ralph and she were married at St.Brides church. We went to the Genealogy Library in Boston in 1976 to find to his dismay that the formerly beautiful room etc. had ben closed and relagated to a tiny storage room. The ageing couple who were in charge had stored reference material elsewhere, but in a cardfile we were able to see a card with an image of both of their signatures. I was struck by the spelling(almost like Shakespeare(ea,ae) and that she had a very good signature, not an "X". She could read and write. Who is your connection? Do you have either of my lines? Isaac and Trial(Tryall)are my two lines, which meet in my paternal great-grandparents. Hope this makes sense to you and that you will write again.Happy New Year 2017! Adele

Thankslord Shepard
Hi S. Tosh! Just cme across Kent Shepard's site. glad to learn Thanks's maiden name. I descend from Ralph and her in two lines: Isaac and Trial.Didn't know she lived so long. What cemetery in Charlestown, MA is she buried in? I also descend from Thomas and Dorothy Bird Lord...all in my paternal line. Are we related? Am glad you corrected her ancestry. The various descrepencies are very troublesome and my mission in life now is to correct many glaring errors. I don't like historical mistakes for obvious reasons.Hope to hear from you. Adele Shepard.

Vernon William Tosh- Born:1916 Delaware, Oklahoma, United States, Death:February 1977
Jay, Delaware, Oklahoma, United States, married to Thelma Lillie Fisher Trent.
I find most of this stuff on FamilySearch.org, Find a Grave.com,usgenweb, and Fold3 or 3Fold.

Yes, I understand no one won't tell nothing about Vernon Tosh either. Actually I don't know any Tosh's. I'm doing my genealogy myself too. Very stress full.

My dad's name is, well supposedly my father, is Mark Logan Woods. Born September 12, 1961 that's all I got on him. I would like to take a blood test to see if he is my dad. I feel that he isn't. I just can't afford it. Is there any other way to go by doing this?

My mom was born in Claremore, OK. My mom has no idea were they were married or anything.

If it helps I've gone all the way back to Johnathon Tosh 1690-1750.
Let keep in touch. Visit me on face book(jonathan.woods.75491@facebook).
