Bio and Links
Bio Photo I've been doing family history research for over 20 years. It's my passion and since I retired 3 years ago, spend most days searching, indexing, transcribing, sharing etc. I am willing to share anything I find with others because if others had not shared with me, I would not be as far as I am in my research.

My BILLINGSLEY/SETTLE (father's) family came from England. They settled in Barren, Hart, Metcalfe, and surrounding counties in Kentucky, eventually moving to Jefferson County. There is a wonderful genealogical center in Glasgow, KY that I visit quite often.

My WALLACE/JORDAN (mother's) family came from Scotland. The Jordan's settled in Daviess, McLean, Ohio and surrounding counties also in Kentucky. I found some cousins ln Owensboro a few years back and got to know them. It was great to meet my mother's people. The Wallace's settled in Athens, Alabama and Giles, Tennessee. While researching that part of the family I discovered that my mother had a sister that no one knew about. She was living in Alabama.

I also do extensive research on my husband's family CAVALCANTE/TETA from Nusco, Italy. His great grandparents came to America in 1900 with their 5 sons and 1 daughter. They settled in and around Pittsburg and McKeesport, PA.

I'd like to thank everyone on Find A Grave who have transferred memorials to me. I appreciate everyone's work in helping people find their family. God bless all of you.

RE: Isabel Payne Billingsley
No problem :)

The memorial number 32622815 that you sent belongs to Rebecca Frazier Payne. What is the memorial number for Rebecca Billingsley Payne?

From what I can figure out, James Payne 1811-1891 is listed on census records for 1850 and 1860 with Rebecca. On the 1870 census a Martha N is listed with him and on the 1880 she is Martha A.

The family trees that I have found list Frazier for Rebecca's maiden name and for Martha they list Biggerstaff.

Have you found a marriage record for Rebecca and James? Most trees list their marriage date as Mar 12, 1840 or 1839 with no month listed. I think that is how you are going to prove that her maiden name was either Frazier or Billingsley.

Ellen nor I have the memorial page for Rebecca Frazier Payne or her husband, James Payne. So neither one of us could have attached them.

But I did a little research and the death certificate for Isabelle Jane "Ibbie" Payne Bennett lists her father as Jas. Payne and her mother as Rebecca Frazier:

Not all family trees are correct. Maybe someone has the wrong information and everyone else just carried it on. Have you checked the other death certificates for the other children?

Isabel Payne Billingsley
I am doing Ellen Manuel's edit for her while she is ill.

You sent link requests for Mrs. Billingsley's parents. On her death certificate it lists her parents as John Parker Payne and Susan Lewis. The 1850 census confirms:

Home in 1850: Monroe, Kentucky
John P Payne 40
Susan Payne 36
Louisa Payne 15
William Payne 12
Almida Payne 10
Nancy Payne 8
Cynthia Payne 6
Rachael Payne 4
Elizabeth Payne 2
Isabel Payne 3/12

You requested the links for her parents as James Payne and Rebecca Frazier Payne. This is that family in 1850:
Home in 1850: Monroe, Kentucky, USA
James Payne 37
Rebecca Payne 30
Elizabeth Payne 11
Daniel Payne 9
William Payne 6
Catherine Payne 3
Isabell Payne 1
Elizabeth Davison 56

Notice that they do have an Isabell but it is a different one then Mrs. Billingley and she is already linked to her parents:

I thought you might want to know why I declined your edit.
Thank you

RE: Parker
Debby, thank you so much for getting back to me, and thanks for the link to the Walton family. I don't have the answers to your questions either, but I am really just beginning my search. I did some research several years ago before the internet age, and now that I am retired I hope to devote more time to it. If I find anything that may be pertinent to your interest I will be happy to pass it along. I may have to consult with you in the future if you don't mind. Thanks again for your help.

I have "not" been able to find info on Thomas Jefferson Parker. I left out that important word.

Hello Deborah:
I'm looking for info on Thomas Jefferson Parker who was married to Mildred Warren Walton. He is my great-great grandfather. Mildred is one of your memorials and she is buried in Walton Cemetery in Cave City, Ky., but I have been able to find death info for TJ Parker. Most of my Parker ancestors are buried in various cemeteries in Barren County. Thanks in advance, and thank you for the great work you do. It is appreciated more than you may know.

Anthony Parker

Deborah,
Thank you for the additional information for Fannie's Bio. What touching information to add! Let me know if you would like me to transfer this memorial over to you. It is always so special when they can be in the hands of family members, and I am not a family member.

Thanks again,
Julie

RE: Mina Katherine Walton
If she is a Higginbotham she is probably a distant relative.

Larkin and Peter Higginbotham claimed the Revolutionary land warrents in Kentucky as they were the youngest sons. After a few years in Kentucky Peter moved to Indiana.

If you daughter in law ever gets interested in the Higginbotham's I will help. She is probably kin to five U.S. Presidents (Madison, Tyler, both Harrisons and Taylor).

RE: Mina Katherine Walton
Thanks for the update for Mina Walton Rountree.

I added your information to the memorial in the Smiths Grove Cemetery.

When I did the record for Smiths Grove Cemetery, I was working off of very poor records, so we had evidence that her husband was buried there and her name was on the stone so I simply assumed that she was also buried there. As the Mayor I was bound and determined to get as much information out as I could and error toward being too inclusive.

The best part about FindAGrave is that errors are found and corrected.

I have changed the record. Please check it out to see it further changes need to be made.

I appreciate your efforts to clean up my information.
