A dear neighbor got me interested in cemeteries while I was a child, she, her daughter and myself use to do Sunday drives and along the way we always stoped at a local cemetery.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.

I am not there. I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.

I am the diamond glints on snow.

I am the sunlight on ripened grain.

I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush,

I am the swift uplifting rush

of quiet birds in circled flight.

I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry.

I am not there; I did not die.

If I should not be with you when the next sun sets,
Don't mourn.I've had a lot of sunsets, and I've loved them all.
But I have had such splendid things to love,
You'll know I've had my share.
Don't mourn.
Just reach out to the world:
Embrace it for me.
Grab joy, but let it shine; it may be all that's left of me Still shining.
And when rain dances, know thatI will be the dancing.
Don't forget: I love you always. Still.

I am looking for my gg grandmother. I think this memorial you have established may be her. I would appreciate any info you have on this lady so I can determine if this is my ancestor. I do not want the memorial...just the info in you have any.

Edna Walker Allen Memorial on FindAGrave.com
Laurie:

Hello there! Could you please transfer the Edna Walker Allen Memorial (#35612589) in the Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin, Virginia to me. She was my dear aunt, the oldest sister of my father. I would like to write a biography for her memorial. My name is Christopher Walker (FindAGrave.com #48377626). Thank you.

Frank Lebby Stanton
Laurie,

Thank you for accepting the edit for the memorial page of Frank Lebby Stanton (Find A Grave Memorial# 9676072). Each little detail adds up to a more complete memorial page.

Regarding the poem you have posted on your Find A Grave profile page, the following is a fuller version of it, with title and author name included. Mary Elizabeth Frye revised (re-wrote) the poem several times during her lifetime, and she never copyrighted the poem. This is the most well-known version.

I Am Not There

Do not stand at my grave and weep -
I am not there; I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush,
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

-Mary Elizabeth Frye (1932)

Keep up the good work.

Elizabeth Towne #7740277
I enjoy reading old newspapers (Library of Congress website) and trying to match up the stories and pictures to memorials here in Find A Grave. I have found an article about Elizabeth Towne, along with a picture. I thought you might like to see it.

It is in the Bridgeport Evening Farmer for 10/10/1916.

Are you related to Jacob Gans? I noticed you didn't have a burial location for him. I am doing some research and that is why I was wondering. Also, did you write the things on your page? They are so touching-I love it!

I would like to take over the management of this site. Dick is my brother in law, and it would mean a lot to me. Thank you for your work.
