Bio and Links
Bio Photo I started researching my family history after my mother died from a hereditary disease but got hooked and have been climbing the family tree for over 30 years. I hope I have contributed to the family history for generations to come.

I am a volunteer with the Portage Community Historical Society and they have allowed me to have a genealogy and historical research area in the Goin Museum. If you have an early Portage Township family, consider donating a copy of your family history to our museum.

My Favorite Poem

A Daisy Beside the Rose
by Diana Sue Lindley Horton

Among the many flowers, God,
Within Your garden fair,
May I, a simple daisy be
So proudly standing there.

I need not be the most admired,
Great beauty to disclose;
It's certain in Your garden,God,
Not all can be a rose.

'Twould be to me an honor,
If where Your garden grows,
I could but be a daisy -
That stands beside the rose.

Calvary Cemetery
Kathy I started to transcribe as this is the first time I have attempted this I made a few mistakes, I have added edits that I missed because of learning curve for me in transcribing, also if there is already a good photo similar to yours I did not include your photo. Sorry for the mess-ups but I think I have a handle on transcribing now.

generic question on the laying down cross
Hi Kathy in NW Indy...

Do you know what the "laying down" cross on headstones represent?

see the example in Find A Grave Memorial# 117170240
for Mary Miscko, and her daughter Anna Vranka.

I noticed a whole bunch of these at the Cemetery I visited last weekend, and wonder about it.

thanks for your thoughts,

RE: Samuel & Abigail Robbins
That is quite possible seeing how they are similar. This is a pretty substantial marker. I'd say there are a few like this, but not a lot here. If I had to guess I'd say maybe five, but less than ten markers of this stature. If they are in your line I have no problems transferring as I am of no relation. ;) Just let me know.

RE: Samuel & Abigail Robbins
I'm unsure why she has a marker there. I entered interments in this cemetery with another contributor from the cemetery transcription book. Then we photographed the cemetery in it's entirety. I did recheck the cemetery transcription and Abigail and Samuel are listed in it. This was the last transcription done in 1987 by Owen and Faye McVey.
