We were two sisters from Hobbs, NM, just 110 miles south of where Cathey lives in Portales. Sadly, Karla passed away on November 14, 2015, after a 15 year battle with congestive heart failure. She was born with mitral valve proplapse that went undetected until it led to chf when she was 40. Karla was almost 7 years younger than I and lived in the Phoenix AZ area. She had the genealogy bug a lot longer, and she passed it to me in 2001 when I moved here. Our mother, Vera "Coggin" Weldy is the one who turned us on to cemeteries when we were kids. We used to go with her to tour the old, out of the way cemeteries along the two-rut dirt roads of Lea County where many of her family is buried. We loved looking at the old beautiful stones, for those that have been there the longest, and the most unusual names. I would gladly make photos of area headstones, but I'm waiting for Santa to bring me a new camera. I've got my fingers crossed so maybe I can help others who live far away to see what the graves of their ancestors look like. Cathey
