***Sorry to anyone who I haven't been able to fill a photo request or make suggested corrections for recently, I have been ill and haven't been doing much online. I am just catching up on my backlog of Find A Grave messages and stuff right now, and may only be on here sporadically in the next few weeks as well. Thanks for your patience and understanding! 02/01/18 ***

I am a 40 year old female from Maine who has always loved cemeteries, and I love the Find A Grave website; I think it is a wonderful idea.

My genealogy research includes Grondin, Snell, Weymouth, Marston, Merrill, Carvill, and the list goes on.

In transcribing cemeteries, you list memorials for everyone, not just people you know. If I have entered a memorial for your immediate family member and you would like it transferred to you, please use the Suggest a Correction link located in the upper right hand corner of each memorial. In your message, please state your relationship to the deceased. I will consider distant family members/ancestors if you have something additional to contribute which I have not done already. Also, if you find any errors I have made, please use the Suggest a Correction link. I really appreciate people helping me fix my errors. I'll be happy to add additional information you have to the memorials. Thanks! (and thanks Julie!)

I follow Find a Grave protocol regarding transfers. Please refer to the FAQ section regarding transfers. Excerpt is as follows: "You can add photos and suggest corrections without the need to manage a memorial. Simply having someone in your family tree is not sufficient to request a transfer. With millions of members, there will be many overlapping family trees and it would be impossible for all members to manage their entire tree. Second, Transfer requests will be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be your siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren."

Also, please remember when you request a photo in the winter months, many of the smaller (and even some of the larger) cemeteries around here are not maintained in the winter. It make take a few weeks or even months for the snow to melt enough to even see the stones, let alone get to them. So if you have a request out there and you're wondering why no one had filled it, we may be buried under a bit of snow at the moment!
