I first discovered this site when I was researching descendants through one of the proven "royalty" lines. I was interested in finding where some of these individuals were buried and was hoping to visit England in the near future. |
My England trip has not panned out yet, but I did discover that I liked this site due to the fact that an individual could be personalized by adding photos, taking pictures of headstones, and adding bios. I felt this somehow draws you in closer to the person. I love the fact that you can leave notes also.
I have told everyone that I know about this site and I and some friends have been doing all we can to document some of our local cemeteries. We have completed our local cemeteries and have expanded into some of our surrounding communities. We have met some very nice people due to this project. We also post all of the local obits to FAG if the obit states which cemetery they are located in.
We also volunteered to put out flags on Memorial Day and Veteran's Day. It only takes a few hours, and, let's face it, some of these guys can use the help. They are always so grateful, and the ceremonies are always beautiful. I recently moved away from this area, so I can no longer help with this effort. This makes me sad....
I would also like to thank the volunteers who take time to take pictures of headstones for me at cemeteries that I will probably never get to see. Recently, I found where one of my fathers relatives was buried, and a volunteer took a picture of the grave. I do appreciate each and every one of you!
I encourage everyone to adopt a cemetery, scour the local papers for obits, and tell all their friends and neighbors about this site. Everyone benefits!
P.S. If anyone knows of a person who should be added to my virtual cemeteries, please let me know.

|Susan Kimes Burgess||Arthur L. Satterfield?|
Hi Diana, You just helped me with the burial of my great uncle Lewis Vincent Kimes. Coincidentally I just this week ran across Arthur L. Satterfield b. abt. 1910 in Arkansas and died 1954 in Crawford County, Arkansas. One of his marriages was to Iva Pearl Dollard and they had 2 daughters: Betty Lou, and Floy Sue Satterfield. Small world. Thank you again. Iva's mother was a Kimes.

Thank you for sending the info on my great Uncle Vincent's burial location. I wonder if his wife, Francis Zenk Kimes b. 1903 in Iowa and d. 1990 in Santa Cruz, California is also buried in Santa Cruz Memorial Park Cemetery? Every time I try to find something about their burials I have been stymied. I appreciate your help.
|James Wilson||Walter Smith|
I believe the article you placed on memorial #78610220 may be on the wrong memorial. If you look at the memorial, you will see "this" Walter Smith was in the Army while the article refers to a Walter Smith in the Navy. Also, the date of death in the article and on the memorial are different. Additionally, the article refers to his parents living in Oildale CA, while the parents of Walter Smith on this memorial were living in Swea City IA at the time of his death.
Thanks for all you do at Find-A-Grave.
You don't know me, but I would like to talk to you about Clay. I should have been there that night. In his place. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org, I know this message sounds strange and it's out of the blue, I apologize for waiting so long. I hope this message reaches you.
