Bio

For past several years to current time - I am the President of the Old Chatham Union Cemetery Corporation (Columbia County) Shaker Museum Road in the hamlets of Old Chatham & Malden Bridge NYS. Also on the Board of the Woodlawn Cemetery Association, located on Burden Lake Road in East Schodack (Rensselaer County) NYS.

Many of the enteries I have posted in 'Findagrave' are from a collection of newspaper obituaries I have accumulated over many years or from viewing grave stones, as well as family history consisting of my maternal family (Flanders/Lloyd - see Prospect Hill Cemetery and Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, Saratoga County, NY) and paternal family (Phillips/Almstead - see Woodlawn Cemetery, East Schodack, Renssealer County NY)

Most of my school years I attended the Stillwater Central School (Saratoga County NYS) where I graduated in 1954.

Having been married to John Nicholls Hurley since August 1, 1959 his maternal (Ransford) and his paternal (Hurley) families have many members buried in the Old Chatham Cemetery (Columbia County) NYS.

My Husband's family had resided in Riders Mills area of Malden Bridge/Old Chatham area prior to the 1900s and shortly after joining the family I became an active member of the 'family church' The United Methodist Church in Malden Bridge, Columbia County - which church was turned over to the residents to become the Malden Bridge Community Center Inc on Nov. 12, 2009 - of which I am proud to be on the Board of Directors. The membership of the Wesley United Methodist Church of Malden Bridge united with the North Chatham United Methodist Church in Columbia County NYS on April 18, 2010.

I continue to reside in the same home where my husband and I raised our two sons (Patrick John and Michael Shawn) and within a few miles of the Old Chatham Cemetery and the Malden Bridge Community Center. We are also members of the Tri-Village fire Company and its Auxiliary of Columbia County NY as well as the Tsatsawassa Protective Fire Company in Rensselaer County NY.

Also many of the folks or their families buried in the Old Chatham and surrounding cemeteries were personally known to me.

The printed obits I have are not shown in the Findagrave info but I will be glad to furnish anyone who contacts me with a copy if I have such.

I have added many flowers/other items in a number of cemeteries in both Columbia and Rensselaer NYS Counties... giving readers a link to my bio if they would like to contact me for any of the family names mentioned therein.

If there are any errors I would appreciate being corrected by contacting me at my e-mail address [email protected] stating the cemetery for the correction. Also if any family member would like to have ownership of their loved ones entry please contact me. Updated May 1, 2017
