I absolutely love genealogy and this website is a great tool to make sure those who have passed before us aren't forgotten. Old family photographs are a passion of mine so if you have photos of any of the individuals posted please add them and email me so I can see them! If you have documents/obits or anything else regarding any of my memorials I'd also love to see them. A decent majority of my memorials are in my tree.....we're all related somehow!

I understand how this website began (to record graves) but I do NOT subscribe to the theory that that's all it's for as it's really transformed itself (with photo options and edits/links it's become a WONDERFUL option for displaying actual family trees) Why not create as complete/accurate memorials of our ancestors as possible? So for those of you that don't agree with me we will have to agree to disagree. I will continue submitting corrections/links as I come across them. I'm not perfect but if I've submitted a correction I've researched it and have a reason for it - I am not submitting them willy-nilly.

With the release of Michigan marriage/divorce records through 1952 it's amazing to me the number of "starter" marriages I've found (and number of questions I get from people questioning spousal links I submit). If I've asked for a link to a spouse it's because I've proven they were married. It may not always be pleasant to add that 2nd (or 3rd or 4th) spouse to great grandma so and so but it's an accurate representation of history and quite frankly it's someone they loved at some point in time right?

I see those that complain about death certificates, etc being posted on memorials and how those "add nothing". That is absolute malarkey. How often are headstones wrong? Sometimes the only way to prove it (and keep incorrect edits from being submitted) is to add the certificate. I generally only add to my memorials but that's why a lot of them are there. If you come across a memorial that has photos, obits, death certs or anything else on them they are likely in my direct family line and I will not apologize for what I've added. If I've added something to one of your memorials (in years past) and you'd like it removed please contact me and I will.

I like to play nice on this website. I have made many neat connections and would much rather have fun with this than butt heads with someone. If you want to get along with me I'll get along with you. In genealogy connections are EVERYTHING - research assistance, etc. comes from your connections and the connections (and dare I say friendships) I've made on this site have been wonderful.

You are welcome to use my headstone photos in your personal family trees (consider this permission). I have always appreciated a note with credit to me and especially have appreciated those that have asked in the past. I gave up long ago fighting those that took my personal family photos and added them to their tree without my permission. At some point in life you just accept that there are inconsiderate jerks in the world and move on. I do enjoy it when I find the people labeled incorrectly. I'd gladly help fix it but I don't help thieves. Ultimately I've used this site to record for future generations and not sharing the photos defeats that purpose but geez people, show some class!

I don't subscribe to the transfer rules of findagrave so if you're related to or have a particular interest in someone that I have a memorial for please let me know how you're related and (unless they're in my direct line) I'll gladly transfer. This site has become about collecting numbers for some and I quite frankly could give a rat's patoot about numbers.

My biggest pet peeve are people that create duplicate memorials when it's blatantly obvious that a memorial already exists. I will always fix mine if I create one (name differences, transcription errors, etc) but some of what I've seen is just sheer laziness and I will report those whenever I find them. Please LOOK BEFORE YOU POST! You will never find me uncooperative with your requests so to duplicate one of my memorials is absolutely unnecessary (in addition to rude and against the rules).

That is all :). Happy graving!
