|Kara Haygood Geilman||Haygood in Mississippi|
Hi, My Great Grandfather was Henry Hickerson Haygood (Unsure about the Hickerson name origin); Now I know he was related to the Hickman family due to his Grandmother being a Chessher, of the James Alvin Chessher family, Born Circa 1795 Georgia near Athens moved to Mississippi, (hers and Uncle Trey's Father, b 1815 Circa), whom was his Son of the same name, say Trey (III), married a Hickman, I believe as his second wife, but she bore most of the children I think, still working on that. So I wondered if you found any Chessher graves mixed in with Haygood in Mississippi?
I am still trying to find a burial record or grave for my 3x Great Grandmother Amanda M* Chessher Haygood, born exactly 1822 Amite Mississippi, Liberty. Lived in Franklin MS, Liberty, Baton Rouge, East Feliciana Parish & Vernon Parish, Jasper TX, Galveston (1900 census, pension file Texas, 1937 Galveston Newspaper remembering 1900 Memorial of Texas Heroes, Land Records), and then oral history after 1900 of her living with family in Waco, TX; but no record shown for death or a grave-site found.
I also Cannot find her husband born 1815 Amite, MS who died Circa 1890 either Jasper Tx or Franklin/Amite Ms, Unknown, but his Name is Henry H* Haygood, though not sure of accuracy, some Research listed him as Henry Howell Haygood aka Howell Haygood, due the fact in our family, your given name was honorary, we usually don't go by it, our common name is always our middle name except when signing documents.
So for records, it might be either, mostly he just signed everything H. H. Haygood, but that is still confusing because he had a 1st cousin born 1808 (Uncle William Haygood father born SC) with same name and initials but the middle name though was different if I recall correctly. I have no recall of how the Howells and Haygoods are related as well, but I have seen the name repeat down the line, so it must be true.
I also would like to know if you have found a Henry Griffin Haygood buried in the area, he is my GGG Grandfathers father as far as I know. He had William, James, John, little Henry, Elizabeth, and few more I don't recall right now. I also have been searching for a eluding record for Matilda Haygood born 1812 prior to marriage, either a sister or cousin, not sure which, she did not spring forth grown, first record existing is spring 1835 census in Jasper TX. as the wife of James Byerly, her grave is unknown also.
Any clue about them may be of assistance in my research would be appreciated in helping to locate where any of them died, a cemetery, or grave, even if its unmarked.
|Carolyn Hebbe McLeod||James William Cook|
James William Cook, memorial #17973072, was a member of my Bishop family.
If he was not a member of your family, would you please consider transferring his memorial to me?
I have tried several times to get his memorial transferred through the edit tab on his memorial. Don't know if there was a problem in receiving them.
Your help in getting his memorial transferred to me would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you, Carolyn (47384868)
