Hi Lettie.... have you found a buyer on ebay for the Bible yet...If not I may have a family member that is now interested. He is willing to offer $80 for it at this time. let me know if that is of interest to you please. He is Minnie's gr grandson.... who lives in Chattanooga, TN now.
|P Syx Hemmer||RE: John & Minnie Wheatley|
Thanks for touching base with me. I have not found anyone in the Wheatley family that is interested at this time. Unfortunately I do not have an extra $100 right now or I would buy it from you. I truly appreciate your patience with me. Best of luck selling it on Ebay!!!!

Thank you very much for the very gracious, and rather rapid, reply. I will look forward to hearing from you.
|Jere Coddington||my great great grandmother Amy|
Some time ago you were very gracious to give me some information about my great great grandmother, Amy Kirby Brelsford. Then I got interrupted, as I recall, with one of my bouts of illness and dropped the ball. So I would like to first thank you (if I had failed to do so earlier) and apologize for any offense caused by the delay. And, further (if you are still speaking to me), do you have knowledge of Amy, or the facts of her life, or what she was like.
I had heard, way back in 1971, some family gossip about her that indicated that, in her adolescence, she may have made some bad choices; which she later, I was told, corrected; thus preserving the life of my great grandmother, Lucinda, her daughter by Michael Adams. My father often referred to her as "little grandma," due to her petite stature. He claimed she lived with her daughter and son in law, his grandparents, with whom he used to visit often. However, to all of my specific questions about her, he always claimed that she died when he was six, and that he had very little recollection of her. My father passed away in 2007, and it was not until several years later that I found find-a-grave's page for Amy. I was shocked to learn that she died when my father was about fourteen years old, not six. My father was a very successful land surveyor. People whom he trained told me he never turned an angle more than once during a survey---because it was always perfect the first time. A man with that kind of talent and skill does not believe that an event happened when he was six instead of when it really happened eight years later. So something is missing that he did not want to speak about.
Do you know, or do you know of someone who might give me, additional information about Amy? I should like to know so much more about her, not to judge her for anything, but to further appreciate her role in the development of my family.
Lettie, I see what you mean. I think recently (last year or so) they changed all the prefixes. When I did this memorial it did show Captain, now it's Cpt.

Lettie, sounds good. Sorry I duped your entry I didn't realize I did. You can add the rank from the name section where it says prefix. Click the up down arrow to choose the rank.
