Bio

As many here in Findagrave, I love genealogy.

On my mother's side, via the Manning family, we are descendants of William Brewster (1567-1644), who came over on the Mayflower, from England. He is my 12th Great Grandfather. We belong to the Mayflower Society.

On my mother's side, via the Fulton family, we descend from James Fulton (1798-1874), who died in Morrow County, Ohio. He is my 3rd Great Grandfather. My understanding is that the Fulton family is from Scotland. James's son, William Fulton (1825-1888), moved to Colusa County, California sometime between 1850-1858.

On my mother's side, via the Wooley family, we descend from William Wooley (1721-1804). William was born in Virginia, and died in Kentucky. William' GG Grandson, Charles, born (1840) in Kentucky, went out west to California, and married Mary Emily White (1844-1907). Charles and Mary had Emma Ann Wooley (1869-1950). Emma married George Samuel Fulton (1863-1935) - which brought the Wooley family line, the White family line, into merge with the Fulton Family line.

On my father's side, via the Hillendahl family, we descend from Hans Hillendahl (1661-1725) in Germany. Actually, the family came be traced back further, as the original last name was Heiligentage, with a Marcus born in 1630, Veltam, Germany. The Hillendahl family came to the United States around 1840-1850. They settled in the Houston, Texas area. There is a Hillendahl street, a Hillendahl Library, and a Hillendahl Cemetery in downtown Houston. My Grandfather, John Arnold Hillendahl (1887-1957), moved from Texas to California around 1911. His father, Henry "Papa" Hillendahl (1857-1948) moved the entire family out from Texas to California.

On my father's side, via the Russi family, we descend from Michael Russi (1850-1923) and Mary (Heine) Russi (1848-1922). It is our understanding that both of their families were from Germany, and that they came to the United States in the 1870s, and settled in Brenham, Washington County, Texas. The family eventually relocated to Houston, Texas. Michael and Mary's daughter, Laura Dorothy Russi (1884-1959), married John Hillendahl, in Houston, Texas, just prior to the move to California. This was the merge of the Hillendahl and Russi families.

I live in California. Despite all the ancestors, from all over the United States, I am a 4th generation Californian.
