If you want to do anything with any records I have created feel free to have me transfer them to you, or feel free to send additions or corrections to me and I will add them. Either way is great. |
An interest in genealogy, local history, and the fact that you can put together in one place a lot of information that is searchable and freely available drew me to this site.
Ancestor and cousin surnames that I have researched include Bollman, Sullivan, Michea, Swift, Mitchell, Row(Rowe), Hoffses, Gronski, Fleischer, Winchenbach, Kramer, Creamer, Riley, O'Neil, O'Dowd, Hatch, King, Kaler, Waxler.
NEWS: Dec. 2013 - Every member's main page now has an "Edits" tab, which is at the top, to the left of "Contributor Tools". It alerts you to any edits pending and has a drop down box!! Check it out. It's clickable even if it's not highlighted. For more info. see the FAQ's or head to the Forums.
In light of the above when you click the edit tab you need to enter the information at the link provided specifically for that information as this will enter it into the automated update process which allows the recipient to click on "approve" without reentering it. Only use the "suggest any other correction or addition" option when there is no alternative way provided of entering the information.

|Denis Thiessen||Transfer memorials|
Hi, could you please transfer the following memorials to me, Denis Thiessen #4730316, their grandson? Memorials # 30359370 for Henry C Hiebert and # 30359371 for Anna Hiebert.
|Martin Burrell||Peter Palmehn|
Please, take the time to install this valuable asset in Peter Palmehn's bio. It reveals much about Peter. Please, use the copy and paste transfer method as it, is fast and accurate. I tried to prevent cracks from occurring it the transfer. If they occur please then try to repair them.
There is 'no' copyright involved in this source. I am most happy to have made this discovery and to see it applied so that many might see into the past of a Oregon pioneer that may have remained silent for years to come.
Thank you, Martin Burrell
The following is from an 'open source book', "An Illustrated History of Central Oregon, Embracing Wasco, Sherman, Gilliam, Wheeler, Crook, Lake and Klamath Counties, State of Oregon. Published in Spokane, Washington by the Western Historical Publishing Company, 1902. Digital images provided by the HATHI Trust Digital Library, as a public service to the general public.
Charles William Palmehn who is one of the pioneers of the Pacific Coast, now resides one mile west from Grizzly. He was born in Washington county, Minnesota, on March 2, 1858, the son of Peter and Helen Christeen (Lund) Palmehn. In 1866, the family left, Minnesota and came via the Isthmus to Polk county, where the father bought an
interest in a sawmill. He operated the same until his death and our subject received his education at the home place in Polk county. Until 1881, he remained there, then came to Eastern Oregon, taking a homestead where Madras now stands. He and his brother are engaged in the sheep business there and as they prospered, bought more land until they owned the entire basin.
Mr. Palmehn's father, Peter, came from Northern Sweden in 1846, or thereabouts, and worked in a sawmill somewhere on Lake Michigan until he became head sawyer. In 1856 he purchased a piece of land in Minnesota. His death occurred in 1873, eight miles south from Dallas, Polk, Oregon.
His mother, Helen Christeen (Lund), came with her parents from Southern Sweden about 1845, and settled in Illinois. A few years later they removed to Minnesota and there she married Mr. Peter Palmehn. After his death she married Mr. Waymire, and is now dwelling at Wilcox, Washington.
