** Currently working on St. Michaels Russian Orthodox Cemetery and Holy Cross Cemetery. Both located in Old Forge, PA. **

Visitation of Blessed Virgin Mary Cemetery (also known as Saint Mary's Cemetery or Visitation of BVM Cemetery), cemetery ID #46175, located in Dickson City, PA

I was recently able to obtain a plot map for the "new" cemetery. If you do not find who you are looking for in the Find A Grave database, please contact the Church and ask them for the Plot/Grave # and I will gladly double check my records and/or return to the cemetery to obtain a photo. Church website (with contact info) is: https://www.vbvm.org/index.html

When adding memorials, please note that the Church has 2 cemeteries. The original "old" cemetery is located a little further down the hill from the "new" cemetery. On Find A Grave, it is cemetery ID #407516, and is known as "Saint Mary's Old Visitation Cemetery". Burials in the "old" section ceased around the late 1920's (there are a few exceptions). Burials in the "new" cemetery began after 1929.

St. Anthony's Cemetery, Dickson City, cemetery ID#45980: All names that I photographed are added and photos uploaded.

St. Johns Russian Orthodox Cemetery, Mayfield, PA, cemetery ID#2273732: All names & photos added of those I photographed are complete.

Saint Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church Cemetery, Dickson City/Blakely, PA, cemetery ID#46215: All names & photos of those I photographed have been added.

All Saints Russian Orthodox Cemetery, Peckville, Lackawanna County, PA All names & photos of those I photographed have been added.

If you have someone specific you are looking for, message me and I can check if I have them. Most of these cemeteries have large areas of unmarked graves, and/or headstones that are no longer legible. I have photographed these headstones and put them under "Unknown".

When searching , keep in mind that Eastern European names are notorious for multiple spellings, in addition to sometimes being anglicized; and some women are under the feminine (*ska, *owna, etc). I type what I see on the headstone, and sometimes that may be different than what you know, and/or I have also seen errors in engraving.

Please also know that I'm not an expert at translations, although I am getting better. ;) Names may be off by a letter, and/or there can multiple spellings of the same name. Some letters have no English equivalents, there could be differences such as *vicz/vitch/wicz; Wasyl/ Vasil/Basil; *chic/chak/chuk among many others.

Be flexible in your searches, and compare with existing memorials to avoid duplicates.

If you need a photograph of someone I have added, please request a photo and I will fulfill it before others without a request. And, please remember, I am human and inadvertently make mistakes. If you find an error, please feel free to contact me and I will correct it.
