RE: Horace Rice
There are quite a few grave markes in Greenwood constructed out of cement, as was Horace's. They have not weathered well and many are absolutely illegible. The setting overlooking the Youngs River is very beautiful.

RE: Floyd J Rice
I posted a transcript of James Lawrence's funeral notice from The Oregonian. I doubt it will help solve the mystery surrounding Floyd Rice's whereabouts, but it gives the names of James Lawrence's immediate surviving family members, for what it's worth.

RE: Floyd J Rice
This is an odd one, for sure. When the office at the mausoleum gave me the urn location, I initially wasn't able to locate it because the Lawrence urns were where Floyd was "supposed" to be. I returned to the office and questioned them further. After checking the files again, they came up with the same location. With some gentle prodding (!) they were kind enough to bring out a plot book and show me the precise location, with the additional information that Floyd's niche was between "so-and-so" on the left, and "such-and-such" on the right. It checked out perfectly.

There are several scenarios I can think of that would explain this situation. The most plausible one (and I've seen this happen several times) is that Floyd's cremains were removed, and the niche resold to the Lawrences. In this case, it might follow that Floyd's information wasn't excised from the files after his urn was removed.

Who knows? Maybe Cristy can get to the bottom of it. Regrettable, though, that she has to make a trip all the way to Portland to solve the mystery!

Let me know what you discover, please. I love a good mystery, but knowing the answers is a must:)

No problem at all. I can't imagine losing one child, let alone four. :(
