Bio

I have been doing family research since 1981. My maternal grandmother, Martha Augusta Palmore Wright, ignited my love of family history during summer evenings spent on her small front porch. She sat in a chair and I sat on the steps of that old porch and she recited who was who, born when and where, and all the birthdays. On an afternoon in 1981 she had me to record all that she said and I was to put it into a family history format. I have always loved her for that, she gave me a real feel for my roots.

I was appalled that my Daddy knew next to nothing about his family. So in 1981 I also began researching the paternal lines. After searching through census records, it seemed to all lead back to Jones County, Mississippi. I contacted the library there and it was suggested that I write an ad to place in the local newspaper. Not long afterward I received a letter with a picture in it stating that if I could identify one of the young ladies in the picture that he had my entire family. He was my relative - the young lady in the picture was my grandmother.

From the two experiences I branched out and began to fluff out the family tree. And then my son became interested in his paternal family - at the time we knew nothing. Before long we had connected with others, and discovered we are surrounded by that family. They are an old established family in our area and are everywhere.

Then I remarried and my husband knew nothing about his family. In a very short time we had an amazing discovery and connected with wonderful close kin who knew all about him but he knew NOTHING of them. He has had a ball learning about lots of family.

Due to partial amputation of my right foot, I am not a photo volunteer because the uneven grounds in most cemeteries make it difficult for me to maneuver. But watch out! I have a scooter. But I love creating and maintaining the memorial pages that I upload. And love to discover family on findagrave.com. I just love modern technology!
