Fallen Graver

Sadly, Patricia Ibbotson has passed away. Please consider visiting their Find a Grave memorial page and leaving some virtual flowers. Their enthusiasm for cemeteries and willingness to help future generations lives on through their contributions to Find a Grave.

Bio

Most of the memorials I created are in the older cemeteries in the metropolitan Detroit, Michigan area. They include Holy Cross, Northview, Mt. Kelly, Mt. Elliott, Mt. Olivet, Westlawn and Eloise. These cemeteries are older and historic and records may be incomplete, inaccurate or missing. In addition grave markers may be buried or missing. Many handwritten records including death certificates are difficult to interpret and names may be spelled more than one way on the same person.

Eloise Cemetery is a Potter's Field which was used until 1948 for unclaimed remains of patients who died in the Eloise hospital complex. The hospital complex as well as the cemetery were owned and operated by the County of Wayne. Some remains were sent to the Detroit Medical College (later Wayne University College of Medicine) and also the University of Michigan.

My photos of markers or monuments may be used provided it is not for commercial use. If you wish to add or correct information or links to existing memorials please use the edit tab. Biographical information and obituaries are not to be included in a virtual flower. This area is reserved for memorial tributes.

You may be asked to cite sources on edits. Ancestry and Family Search Trees are not suitable sources as they often contain erroneous information. Any edit request that cannot be vetted will be declined.

As a general rule, transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be your great-grandparents, grandparents, parents or siblings.Aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. do not fall into this category. Please make your request through the edit tab on the memorial and include your relationship and ID number.
