Bio

I became interested in genealogy in the early 1970s when my mother got a family tree book for Christmas. It seems like most of the family and extended family also shared that interest. Obtaining information was a very slow process back then. Sometimes it took weeks, or even months, to get a reply. Needless to say, I love the internet for finding info or new places to write to find more detailed information.

After reading numerous bios posted by FAG members I find I am not alone in the opinion that there are members seemingly in a race to add or collect and manage as many memorials as possible with no regard for the accuracy of the information they post, nor the correction requests submitted to them by anyone, and refuse to transfer management for any reason...including to family members of the deceased. I cannot help but feel sorry for these FAG managers because they not only dishonor our ancestors, they also dishonor themselves with their selfishness, greed, closed mindedness.

This is not a race to amass as many memorials as possible by posting minimal or incorrect information. This is not the place to exercise your control over others by refusing to add/correct data or refusing to transfer management to those who care. Find a Grave is a means to honor all those who have gone before us, to honor all of our ancestors.

Posting these memorials can be an honorable thing to do as long as the information is correct. When I find incorrect information on a memorial of interest (relatives) I contact the manager, supply accurate information, and allow an appropriate amount of time for those corrections to be made. If the corrections are not made, I may request a transfer of management so I can make the necessary corrections. (obviously not always successful).

The honor and glory goes to all those who understand the higher purpose of this site, I thank each and every one of you for either editing the memorials or transferring them so others can make the necessary corrections. Honor is earned by the quality and accuracy of the memorials, not by the number of memorials managed.
