Bio

I am originally from Tucson, Arizona. After completing elementary, junior high school, and two years of high school at Tucson Junior Academy, a Seventh-day Adventist K-10 school in Tucson, I graduated from Thunderbird Adventist Academy in Scottsdale, AZ. I completed a Bachelor of Arts in the area of liberal studies with an emphasis on early childhood education and elementary education, along with a music minor emphasizing vocal performance from Loma Linda University, in Loma Linda, California, followed by a Master of Arts in the field of Curriculum and Instruction and Teacher Education at La Sierra University in Riverside, California. I have a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of Phoenix. I served as an educator for 33 years. I have been a classroom teacher in both Seventh-day Adventist and public schools, teaching PreK up to high school. I served as a principal in Lake Havasu City, Arizona for one year. Then we settled in the Inland Empire near Los Angeles where I taught various grades from K to 4. My family and I chose to move from the hustle-and-bustle of southern California, to northern Colorado, where I served as a Title I Literacy Coordinator in Ft. Collins, Colorado and an Educational Consultant for ETA/Cuisenaire, one of the nation's largest supplemental educational publishing companies, providing curriculum development consultation and professional development trainings for districts in Arizona, Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming. I then returned to the classroom to teach a combination K-1 classroom in the second oldest elementary building in the city of Denver (circa 1850). After four years of teaching in Denver I returned to Adventist School administration where I served as a principal near Nashville, TN and Orlando, FL. I then served as Associate Superintendent of Schools for South Atlantic Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. I have also served as a Master Teacher for La Sierra University's School of Education. The family and I are devout Seventh-day Adventists and I look forward to reuniting with family around the feet of Jesus when He comes.
