Every marker has a story to tell; sometimes I can be its voice

I WILL NOT link to a burial unknown. This is a site for listing the known disposition of the deceased. It is not a family tree site.

PLEASE use the Edit tab and Suggest a Correction link to add/correct information. I try to get to them within 24 hours of receipt. I generally don't require sources unless the edit is questionable and I can't verify it myself in which case I will ask you for your sources.

I don't estimate birth years. The relatives of the dearly departed not only could get the date of death wrong on the monument but the age at death. Too many people take anything they find on the Internet as gospel, and I will not contribute to that bad habit.

PLEASE use the Edit tab and Suggest a Correction to request a transfer. Please include your relationship. I will not transfer out of guidelines, and I will check. Please spare me the "I am the family genealogist" and the "I have tons of information to add" stories. Use the edit system. Too many people have requested out-of-guidelines transfers and then never added so much as a comma to the memorial. Requests for bulk transfers will be summarily ignored.

My love of old cemeteries is genetic from my dad. I try to take pictures of the fallen/damaged markers first as they might end up "behind the shed" or "over the wall" by the next time I get there.

Sources for additional memorial information include:
Suggest A Correction, NEHGS, Fold3.com, Ancestry.com, NARA, other on-line sources, personal library, obituaries, newspaper items, etc.

Presenter of Betty Allen Chapter DAR and Friends of Lilly Library sponsored "Celestial Residents Walking Tours": Bridge Street Cemetery (Northampton), Park Street Cemetery (Florence), Spring Grove Cemetery (Florence), West Farms Cemetery (Florence) and a virtual tour of "The Celestial Residents of Chesterfield".
