Bio

I live in Roanoke, Virginia and more recently I retired from the History Museum of Western Virginia. I am a member of the Historical Society of Western Virginia and the Botetourt County Historical Society. My current interest is family history research from a military service perspective.
I am a member of both the Sons of Union Veterans and the Sons of Confederate Veterans where I serve as Camp Genealogist for both camps and Secretary of the Joshua L. Chamberlain Camp #20 Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. I am also a member of the National, State Society, and served as Secretary of Fincastle Resolutions Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution and presently serve as the Chapter Registrar. I am primarily of English, Scot-Irish, and German descend. Therefore, the surnames that I have researched for over forty years include the following: Paternal - LINTON, ADKINS, HOGAN, BISHOP, LOLLIS, PICKERING, CALDWELL, HOLSTEIN, TAYLOR, CLAXTON, RICHARDSON, HIX, BOOTH & WEIR. Maternal - BLANKENSHIP, BAKER, GOFF, PREAS, PARKER, HALL, CLAYTON, YOPP, LITTON, LYKINS, WILBUR, IDDINGS, STEWART, REYNOLDS, & LYON. Allied Families - MAXEY, AKERS, BOOTH, KEATON, FISHER, CARTER, MISNER, BRILLHART, BECKNER, SHROPSHIRE, CONNER, MUNCY, STUART, COOPER, DOGGETT, PALMER, McDANIEL, GRAHAM, GRIGGS, KING, UNDERWOOD, PRATT, BOHON, JONES, & MELTON.
