Hi! I have been working on my family tree for twelve years (2006-2018). My father's side settled in the Brooklyn-Queens area of New York about 1850. They were German immigrants. My mother's side is from Maryland & Virginia. Those lines go back to the 1600's. The oldest stone I have been able to find, through Find-A-Grave, is 1861 in Maryland.
