Bio

I'm a plant taxonomist in the Horticultural Science Dept. of North Carolina State University. I have taught students 42 years, 34 years at the University level. Taxonomists are plant detectives, sorting clues (plant's morphological characters) to identify unknown plants), classifying plants (plant relationships), nomenclature (various names for one plant), and describing new plants. I also enjoy travelling, bridge, mysteries, suduku, and jigsaw puzzles.
Genealogy provided me the opportunity to play detective in learning our family roots in the two major Fantz/Fauntz lines in America. My grandmother provided me at age 11 some details of our heritage in Europe and family name changes. I have enjoyed talking to other descendants who have provided additional parts of the European story. Also, supported by some earlier American descendants readding the "u" to the name.
I appreciate those who have added gravesite photos to the sites I maintained. I view my recommendation to other sites regarding additional data & family links as a service to others researching their family roots. It makes it easier for them in their searches. Unlike others, I view the data in the sites I maintain as more important than the quantity of sites I have.
Thanks to the originators of this website for their vision and opportunity to add additional names and photos to the site. It is an excellent genealogical resource.
