Bio

After serving 24 years in the US Navy, Lieutenant Commander Keller retired from the military in November 2016. A Naval Flight Officer onboard the P-3C Orion aircraft, he served in three combat tours, including missions in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom, missions to Iraq and the Persian Gulf during Operation Iraqi Freedom, and once again to East Africa in support of counter-terrorism and counter-piracy operations in the Indian Ocean. He served as a diplomat with the Department of State as the United States Naval Liaison to Kenya, where he worked directly with the nation of Kenya through the US Embassy in Nairobi.

He was a storm chaser with the Naval Research Laboratory for several years, flying BAMEX missions into tornado systems, hurricane chasing in the Atlantic Ocean, and flew missions to Antarctica where he assisted NASA and the National Science Foundation in calibrating their ICESAT satellite system - a system that measures the annual melting of the Antarctic Sea Ice. LCDR Keller has been to 35 countries across all 7 continents and has served with distinction on three warships, three aviation squadrons and served several years inside Naval Intelligence and Navy Information Operations warfare centers. Among his many awards and medals include a Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, five Navy Commendation Medals, three Navy Achievement Medals, an Afghanistan Campaign Medal, two Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medals, and an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. He is also a Navy Pistol Expert and a Navy Rifle Sharpshooter.

His education background began at UNC - Asheville where he earned a BA in History, then to St. Mary's College of Maryland where he earned a second BA in Philosophy, then a MA in Classical Liberal Studies at Excelsior College, and finally a second MA with Distinction in Humanities from the American Military University.

He has published two books, one of which is The Keller Family - Five Generations of the Descendants of Anthony Keller, 1710 - 1783, now in its 2nd Edition. He has also published "Those Missing Crowders" in the Gaston-Lincoln Genealogical Society Journal, Footprints in Time. A long time Scouter, LCDR Keller is also an Eagle Scout and has served many years as a Cubmaster and as an Assistant Scoutmaster.

LCDR Keller currently teaches AP and Honors US History at Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy in Rutherford County, North Carolina.
