"We inherit from our ancestors gifts so often taken for granted... Each of us contains within us this inheritance of soul. We are links between the ages, containing past and present expectations, sacred memories and future promise."
- Edward Sellner -

Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone,
The name and date are chiseled out
In weathered red sandstone.
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist.
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
Two hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder where you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

- They shall grow not old,
as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them. -

Susie ViVier
I found the View Crest Abbey open today and located Susie's niche. I did not find John ViVier so he must be in the community vault as stated in his memorial. I checked the vault and it was locked as usual. I wish Susie's photo was of better quality. I took many but the one posted is the best of the lot. The niche is about 10 ft. from the floor and lighting is poor so a flash is needed. With the glass fronts on the niche's, the flash gives a lot of reflection. I will check the community vault again the next time I find the abbey open.

Phillips family in Sac County, Iowa
I saw where you had left several photos for members of the Phillips' family in Sac County. John Ira Phillips was the grandfather of my uncle, Ray. - Red

Hey, wait a minute !!

Yours predates mine .... please take mine off and use yours, too much stuff to try to move. I get to keep the cemetery photo to keep my ego up.
