Googling a "great-great-great" family member's name during the year 2000 brought numerous hits. Many of these tidbits of information were news to my family and nothing like we had imagined, thus I caught the genealogy bug.

My maternal lines: Boswell, Garrett, McGaw, Sellars, Shanks.
My children's paternal lines: Bond, Grice, Holcomb, Jackson, Lacy, McCarver, Sweatman, Underwood.

They migrated from southern states to east Texas by wagon or boat mainly before the Civil War (up to 12 years before); however, our Boswell family members arrived via railroad train circa 1910.

(I lived in Texas most of my life, but recently moved to northern California.)
