Bio

My name is Shannon Gorman. I was a "Navy Brat". My dad graduated from Ole Miss and went into the Navy to fly jets. I married a Navy submariner, so I spent the first 40 years of my life moving from duty station to duty station. My summers were spent with my grandparents in Gulfport and Columbia, Mississippi. Home to me is Mississippi.

I am the publisher of the MsMarion.com website and the Mostly Mississippi database, with over 102,000 files. This database is free and can be found at http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=shannon50

I have a Masters Degree in Business Education and have taught in high schools and junior colleges. For genealogy education, I completed the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Consultant Genealogist course, and have 17 proven American Revolutionary War Patriot Ancestors, with others in process. I have helped 20 other people join DAR by working on their lineage with them. I have completed the BYU South Eastern United States genealogy course, and am currently enrolled in second course.

I have photographed over 5000 funeral home records. I published the Colonial Funeral Home Records 1913-1915, and have two more sets of funeral home records in the publishing process. The first volume can be found in the DAR Library in Washington, DC. If you have guestions about the Colonial Funeral Home Records, just ask. I am not doing this to make money. There is no charge for communicating with me!

I have been photographing tombstones for longer than Find a Grave has existed, but do not intend to compete with, or duplicate work other people are now doing or have done. I am happy so many people are participating in documenting cemeteries.

I do not want to manage any more memorials. I ask questions about some of them, but that does not mean I want to manage them, it only means I had a guestion. Thank you in advance for not making me the manager of any memorial unless I expressly asked to manage it. I consider it a big responsiblity to manage the memorials and it is very time consuming to get them right. I am not someone who wants to have the most memorials entered, I want to be the person who is willing to document the source and provide correct lineage information on the memorials I manage.

If I do not respond right away, please email me. Some health issues put me down for a couple of years but I am determined to bounce back. I am not ignoring you, I promise.

Happy Hunting and I look forward to working with you on Find a Grave.
