Bio

I have been doing genealogy as a serious hobby since 1996. I have a database of over 35k people. I have always seen the potential of FindaGrave to be a tremendous genealogical resource. Since my divorce in 2018, I have been working hard in my free time to help make it so. I very much enjoy the interaction here with other gravers as we are all in this together to properly honor the legacies of those who came before us. This is a major reason I take on the responsibility of managing memorials. Also, I want the memorials to be as accurate and as informative as possible.

This has been a strong calling. As I go along, I find many things to fix, many duplicate memorials to turn in, vital statistics to add, pictures to add, and so on. I have turned in thousands of Suggestions over the years. Mostly for linking family members. That is really my favorite thing.

I virtually always follow the FindaGrave guidelines on transferring a memorial as listed on their FAQ page, which all gravers should read:
"Determine if you really need the memorial transferred to you for management. You can add photos and suggest updates without managing a memorial. With millions of members, there will be many overlapping family trees and it would be impossible for all members to manage their entire tree.

Memorials are transferred for relatives with these close relationships: child, spouse/partner, sibling, parent, grandchild, great-grandchild, grandparent, great-grandparent, niece/nephew, great-niece/nephew, aunt/uncle, great-aunt/uncle, or first cousin. This would include adoptive, step and in-law versions of these relationships.

Always explain your relationship in the request! Keep in mind that the memorial manager may also be related to the memorial and may not make the transfer. You may also want to include your specific interest in the memorial.

To request a transfer on the memorial in question, click on 'Suggest other Corrections' under the 'Suggest Edits' button and type your message to the memorial manager. Be sure to include your relationship to the person and any other reason for the transfer request. This message will be sent to the member, even if there is not an email address listed on their profile."
