I have been adding relatives to this site in hopes of helping others and to connect with more relatives.

Some new information about Charles Minney's parents just came to light. This is it-

I was going thru my old notes about the Minney family from back in Dec. 1976 when I interviewed my husband's Great Aunt Peggy (Grace Inez (Anderson) Sutton). Charles Minney was her grandfather. She had a great memory and was able to give me the information on the lives of each of her Uncle and Aunts which were Charles Minney's children. She said that Charles and his sister Mary Emily came to America with both of their parents from Dublin, Ireland and both of the parents died on the ship before they arrived. A wealthy family from the ship adopted his sister but would never let her contact him. A different family from the ship took him and raised him but never adopted him. Someone also told Great Aunt Peggy that Charles Minney b. 1834 had discharge papers from the Scottish Army in Scotland, (perhaps his fathers?). (So maybe they sailed to America from Dublin, Ireland but were from Scotland)

The Minney line is from Fillmore Co., Nebr. and then goes back to Illinois then to New Jersey.

According to the book - Memorial and Biographical Record ….....Fillmore County, Nebr. by George A. Ogle and Company, page 965; Charles Minney's parents were John and Mary Minney and he had only one other sibling named Mary who married a Mr. Huffman. It also says his father died when he was 11 years old, which would be in 1845, (since Charles was born in 1834). We think his last name may have been spelled something like Menaugh or Menagh and not Minney. We are still searching for his parents.

Many genealogists quickly surmise that his parents were John Minney and Mary (Dilts) of Hunterdon County, N.J. But this is not true, this John Minney died in 1864 and Mary (Dilts) died in 1885. They were married under the last name of Minny, sometimes they were referred to as Minney, and are buried in Sandy Ridge Cemetery under the name Menaugh with their children, Elizabeth (Menaugh) Sharp (died 1878), William D. (died 1842 - 16 yrs), Joseph D. (died 1848 - 17 yrs.). They did not have a son Charles or a daughter Mary.

If anyone has any more information about the Minney family please let me know. Thanks, [email protected]

The Tornga, and Fongers, families, which I'm researching are from the Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan area, but then all go back to Netherlands.

The Tompkins line was from Bureau Co., Ill, and went back to Carter Co., Tenn. and back from there.

The Cerbin line is from the Chicago, Ill. area and then goes back to Poland.

I want to give a heart felt thanks to all the photo volunteers out there.

Thank-you very very much!
