I am Faye Gill Joy, retired paralegal. I have been researching my families, off and on, for many years. I am primarily researching the Gill, Lewis, Davidson, Brown, Fisher, Goldsberry, Joy, Gosser and ancestral families. I have found Find A Grave to be a wonderful source for genealogists and especially appreciate the linking feature. |
If you have corrections or additions to any of the memorials I have added, please forward them to me via the Send A Correction form. If you wish to add links, please include the correct memorial number(s). I will be glad to consider requests for transfers of memorials to appropriate persons.

He is my husband's 4th great grandfather. I have found a record that Peter Joy, the alleged father, died on 3rd, 4th month, 1784. This would make it impossible to be the father of Reuben, who records state was born 5 June 1785. According to charts I found, in 1784, 4th month was April. Even if we go by the older, pre 1753 method, it would be June, so Reuben was born more than 12 months after his father's recorded death. I haven't been able to find any documented source for parents of Reuben. Do you have something I haven't been able to find? Also, since the Quakers loved to name children after grandparents, I find it unusual Reuben didn't name a child Peter or Phebe. Also, Peter died in Massachusetts, and Reuben was born in NC. A pregnant woman could have traveled, but I find that a little unlikely also. Do you have a source for his parentage? Thanks!

Richard Goldsberry and Mary Pearson are my GG Grandparents. I think this would mean you and I are related. I have very little information on this side of my family. What I have was given to me by another Goldsberry researcher. I have nothing past Richard and Mary at this point in time. I was excited to find this site and this information.

You have that Adam and Treva married April 4, 1934. In the Davidson Book, page 191 it shows their marriage date as 4/11/1934, meaning day, month, year. the 4 represents the day, 11 the month.
There are some mistakes in the book but most of the dates are reverse from what we are used to. 4/11/51 now-a-days IS April but the book has them different. day/moth/year. 4 meaning the day
Do you know which one is correct? Thanks.
I do not get very much info about you all up there so all I can do is hope you all are ok.

I know the Floyd Gill family. He's from Chickasha but is now a pastor in Inola. His parents were Floyd Gill and Bessie Taylor.

Hello F G
Thank you for your reply. On this side we are looking the answers. I have many ideals, one is that his mother could be Anna Way Joy, wife of Reuben Joy.
Most of my info came from Thomas Joy and his Descendants by Richard James Joy. I am on Ancestry,
to fine the tree of Peter Joy you go though John Way/ Anna Way/ Reuben Joy.
Your husband and I are also relayed though Lindley Joy / Anna V.Joy & Bert Foster.
Is Reuben W. Burred somewhere in south Salem Cem.?
I want to make sure before I enter him in.
