I don't mean to sound hateful, but I have traveled extensively in the U.S. and Europe to research my lines. I've also DNA tested my family and some cousins in the pursuit of finding remote connections.

I've been interested in my genealogy since I was a child. My father was the family historian, and I have taken over where he left off. Only this time DNA is part of my research.

Although my father's grandparents came over from Bohemia in 1881, his mother's maternal line, and all my mother's lines were here in colonial times. So, one part of me is in only a 3rd generation American, and the other part is an 11th generation.


My grandfather Frank Kruta was adopted by his stepfather James Kruta. His biological father remains unknown until a Y-DNA match is found.

My father's lines are the Braums, and Zemans who originated in Bohemia and immigrated through Ellis Island around 1876. They went to Chicago, Nebraska, and Oklahoma.

His maternal lines are the Yagers and Velmans (Veulemans) from Missouri via Germany and East Flanders, the Barlows from the Germanna Colony in Virginia, and the Singletons and Siberts from Kentucky, Indiana, and Missouri, and Yoakums and Keeneys from West VA. Dwight Yoakam is a 7th cousin

My mother's maternal lines are the Greenes, Bruners, Tarrants, McCurrys, Russells, G'Fellers, Hubers/Hoovers (Amish/Mennonite), Mercers, Taylors, Browns, Painters from Greene County, TN. There's a 250 year history back there since that's where my grandmother was born. Also, the Watkins from Sullivan County, TN, the Tarrants and Manloves from Dover, Delaware. We share a common Manlove ancestor with the branch who married into the du Pont (chemical company) line, and the Allisons from Maryland.

Her paternal lines are the Burns from Scotland to Pennsylvania, the Smiths from Tennessee, and the Cloyds and O'Banions from Kentucky.
