I have been researching my family since 1997 when I retired from the Federal Government and had time on my hands. At first it was a neat thing to do but after six months I cannot put it down. Genealogy has become my life. I origianlly came Rhode Island. Was in the U.S. Navy for 8 years. I lived in Chazy, New York for 16 years and when I retired I discovered that I was related to all of the Patnodes(all spellings) in New England and especially from the North County. My grandparents were born in Churubusco, New York. We have visited several time and did genealogy research from Plattsburgh to Alexander Bay. As my genealogy grows I will be making more and more trips back home to Upstate North County, New York
The two major families in New York are the Patnodes, all spellings and LaClairs, all spellings.
