Local history and genealogy have become a huge love of mine... I am learning the great importance of documenting everything in our history, and the hope of it never being lost. I really enjoy the "difficult" searches, and have no problem walking 5 different cemeteries, or random fields searching for a missing grave. I am more than willing to visit the local museums if need be.. I hope my contributions on here make a difference in your family search. I would also be more than happy to transfer any memorials to you, so feel free to ask..

Always Researching My Ancestors:
Kuhlmann, Holtzen, Gehle, Keorwitz,
Weers, Ahrens, Schleufer, Kraft,
Sieders, Block, Grundmann, Degner

Dear Ancestor,
Your tombstone stands among the rest,
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
on polished marble stone.
It reaches out to all who care,
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist.
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are part of you,
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse,
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled,
So many years ago.
Spread out among the ones you left,
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved.
I wonder if you knew.
That someday I would find this spot.
And come to visit you.

Note: please check out the Sandy Knob Cemetery in Thayer County Nebraska for our restoration project!! We are hoping to raise enough money to put a memorial marker at the site listing all burials.
