Being the creator or manager of a memorial at this site means more than you might think. I have been given valuable information for my family tree not only from the tireless and generous efforts of those photographing headstones but also because so many people who have seen the memorials have contacted me with additional information that I had given up finding. I contribute to this site because I want to return the favor.

Regarding Death Certificates: Over the years I have received feedback from many people who find it disrespectful to the deceased to display an image of the death certificate on the memorial. Sources are important, of course, so I suggest uploading those images to FamilyTree at FamilySearch.org (a free genealogy website).

PLEASE -- Unless it has been 95 years since publication, do NOT post images of newspaper articles, including death notices and obituaries, on the memorials I have added. Let's not run afoul of copyright laws. Instead, summarize the article or obituary and send it to me in a message so I can add that to the biography section.

AND THIS IS SO IMPORTANT: Information from newspaper articles and personal family histories that reflects badly on the deceased does not belong as the main part of a memorial, and, in most cases, probably does not belong on it at all. Please do not put images of these negative materials on the memorials! Don't add "poisoned" flowers, either.

Be sure to visit the free sites FamilySearch.org and deathindexes.com when you are researching.
