As a genealogy researcher for more than thirty years my passion has taken me on quite a family history journey. The most distressing thing during this journey has been how many gravemarkers have been destroyed by time and the elements and by vandalism, but especially those graves that were never marked.|
If I possessed all the money needed, I would see to it that each and every unmarked grave was given the rememberance that person deserves. So, I am happy to contribute to Find-A-Grave. I encourage others to do so as well.
My roots are in the Heart of Dixie. I have a keen interest in knowing about the soldiers of the 16th Regiment of Alabama Infantry, CSA, the 1st AL & TN Independent Vidette Cavalry, USA. I encourage anyone who has an ancestor in either of these regiments to please submit information about them to me for inclusion in my research.
Please use the EDIT feature to make corrections or additions to memorials...also please be kind enough to provide documentation for any additional info requested. Please do not ask for corrections or additions in the comment section - it is very time consuming and there is a possiblity of error. Thank you very kindly.
Carolyn Murray Greer

Do you have birth and death dates for Eli Smith Gregory?
|Lynda Kennedy||WILLIAM BARRON|
I would be happy to go photograph the grave marker for you but do you have the info for the Section number and Plot number. without this info it would be almost impossible to find due to the size of the cemetery. If you don't have it you can call the cemetery office at 281-332-3111 and they will look it up for you. If you get the info please email me at KENNEDYL@RICE.EDU.

Hi, I received your edit request for Alma Ball. Are you related to her? If so, I'd be happy to transfer her memorial to you.
|D Wilkes||Sparks Family|
I am curious as to your connection to my side of the Sparks family. My g-grandmother, Louisa Jane Clardy, married George W. Sparks. They brought forth Stella, James & Ethel Sparks. As I have it, George died and Louisa married William T. Larimore who brought forth one child. Willie Lou Larimore (my grandmother). Would love to hear back from you.

I don't do FB. Will have to learn how later this week. Am tied up now with DAR. Thanks so much for your reply. Would love to learn how to connect my George (b. 1791) to his father Moses (b. 1769).
|Barbara Burris||RE: Ingram Blanks Peebles|
Sadly Ingram Blanks is my brick wall. Others on Ancestry.com & familysearch.org list his father as Howell Peebles. I have not found records that show that connection. I am frustrated as well.
Thank you for your reply.
|Ann Warner||Moses Birdwell|
Moses Birdwell (1769-1848) is my 4th great grandfather. I am searching for proof that he is the father of George W. Birdwell (1791-1880). George was born in Franklin Co., GA and died in Young Co., TX. He was married to Matilda Garner in 1814.
Any information on where I can search for proof would be appreciated.
Thank you very much.
|Barbara Burris||Ingram Blanks Peebles|
Ms Greer: I am a descendant of Ingram. I have struggled to connect him with his father & mother. I suspected that Howell was his father but did not find definitive proof. Minerva's third husband is my gggrandfather on my father's side. All confusing. I would enjoy corresponding with you via email if that is easier. My email address is: email@example.com
Thank you for posting the information about Ingram on findagrave. I check that site periodically. I have been remiss on doing genealogy for a while so I am eager to get back into it.
|Stephen Springer||TVA Reservation|
Hello, Carolyn. You listed a grave for Mat Sledge in the TVA Reservation (South Florence) Cemetery in Colbert County, AL. James Madison (Mat) Sledge was a brother to my great-grandmother, Lucretia Elizabeth (a/k/a Lou Creasy) Sledge Jones. They had a sister named Sally Sledge Rice Wilcoxson and a brother named Sterling Green Sledge, III. They were the children of Sterling Green Sledge, Jr. and Catherine Springer Sledge Chandler. Are you related to the Sledge family? If not, how did you discover the burial location of Mat Sledge? Is there a state death record or an obituary?
Thanks, Steve Springer
