Bio

My professional training is Anthropology, Social History and Computing - with an emphasis on kinship, household and family organization. I have been engaged in this work since the mid-1960's. It involves the reconstruction of families and family ties using historical documents, such as baptism, burial, marriage, wills and inventories, and other historical records as well as the construction of argument based on the evidence of actual data rather than inference and supposition.

B.A. University of California, Davis
M.A. Princeton University
Postgraduate Dip.Social Anthro., Oxford University
Research: United States, Canada, Southern Brazil, Britain, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Germany, Austria, Poland

I am a member of the MacDuffee Clan Society of America. As such I am particularly interested in researching the connections between the various Mcduffees that I continue to find. [ McDuffie, McDuffee, McPhee, MacPhee, Mcfie, McAfee, MacGuffey, Duffee, Duffy, Fee, MaHaffie, etc.]

I belong to "the families of five sons of the Macduffee family from Northern Ireland. Four of the sons, Daniel, Archibald, John, and Matthew immigrated to the United States in the 1720's. The son or sons of Mansfield McDuffee, who immigrated first to London and then to Edinburgh, came to America, living first in New Jersey and then in New York state."
