You are very welcome!
|Robin Pewtress||Steve & Gene Corgiat|
I saw that you clipped an article at Newspapers.com for the above mentioned gentlemen and am wondering if you are a descendant of one of them. I am trying to help a lady return a framed portrait of the Genasci family that she rescued. The portrait has Steve & Gene's grandparents and their mother (and all her siblings) in it and is believed to have been taken in the 1880s.
Hope to hear from you soon!
|Patty Lane||RE: Sterk Family- Lake View Cemetery|
You are so welcome Kathleen! I go there every summer for about a week- not much time and I never seem organized enough to make a spreadsheet of the graves that need to be recorded. This time I just started walking around the graves looking for names I recognized or that looked Slovenian as I am in a slovenian genealogy Facebook group.
There were Sterks that were family friends of my family. My aunt in her later years said that a Mrs. Sterk used to help my grandmother with the children and she thought she might have been a relation of some kind. My grandparents were John and Antonia Shutey- they were from Slovenia- she was from Crnomelj and he was from Sodevci/Stari Trg area near the boarder with Croatia.
You are very welcome!!! I am not sure if the photos are still upside down- they were when I first loaded them and I will work on fixing that when I have time!!
You're most welcome.
I read the death notice for the McCrystal matriarch, Delia, which was published in the Wednesday 31 December 1930 edition of The Brooklyn Daily Eagle, page 24.
Stated that she was survived by eight children. I saw the good work you had done in finding most of them.
Did a search of interment records at Holy Cross and found George in the same plot as the rest of the family so I added him.
There are still three children not connected to Delia and James. If memory serves correctly, these were William McCrystal, Mrs. Edward Payne and Mrs. Grafton Smith.
I didn't find the first two but Mrs. Grafton Smith is interred in Greenfield Cemetery, Uniondale, Nassau County. Her name is Kathleen M. Smith (1892-1978). Memorial #32396773. I meant to send an edit to the page owner but got sidetracked.
Hope this helps. Are the McCrystal clan part of your family?
Keep up the good work.

It was a genuine pleasure to help honor someone who was obviously so dear to you. :) Your message with your flower on Mr. McCurdy's memorial made me smile: so much depth of character in so few words. We need more men like that.
Next to Mr. McCurdy was the following:
Mary Lou McCurdy
1908 - 1954
If you start Ms. McCurdy's memorial, I'd be honored to add the photo of her stone.
Please, let me know how you'd like to proceed. :)
