Bio

My great grandfather Joseph Cusworth was born on June 20, 1886 in West Milton, Yorkshire, England where he became a coal miner. He left England on May 10, 1887 and finally settled in Roslyn, WA in 1889. He and his son Joseph were killed in the big coalmine explosion in Roslyn on May 10, 1892. My great grandfather had 13 sons and daughters including my grandfather Obadiah who had 11 children most of whom lived in Roslyn, WA their whole lives. In the cemeteries of Roslyn, all of the Cusworths and many of the Baughs, Booths, Holmes, Justhams, Laurents, Owens, Prescotts as well as others are connected to me.
Over the years my father Thomas John Cusworth (1911-1987) had written down a lot of he family history that he learned from talking to family members. After he retired in the 1970's, he decided to create a family tree on a piece of butcher paper and had several copies made that he gave to various members of our family.
After I retired I too became interested in family history and found it very easy to keep records with a computer program. The past three winters have spent a lot of time doing genealogy research, mostly on the Internet. Many of the databases in the Internet charge a fee to access them and I was pleased to stumble onto findagrave.com and find out that it was free.
I have a database of over 1300 people that are connected to me and will try to enter a lot of that information onto the findagrave.com sites.
The only people that I have entered or manage are family connected and I have a lot more information than I can possibly enter on these sites. If you are family and or have more information to share, please contact me and I will gladly share with you.
