In 2006 my daughter graduated from high school and moved off to college. To keep my mind occupied I took a box of antique photos off the top closet shelf that had been stored away since my grandparents passed away in 1990. Very few had names and so I began doing genealogical research to track down family members who also may have inherited matching photos. Many were from the late 1800s and very early 1900s. To my surprise I have identified about 3/4 of the unnamed photos. I am still working on my family tree trying to get the Jonas family posted but also work on my husband's lines as well. My husbands family names are Mullen, Moore, Herran, Gardner, Burleson, Boyd, Day, Miles, Vann, Beaver, Wren & Tacker who are mostly early settlers in Freestone and Leon County, Texas.

When studying family history, the question often comes to mind "what is the purpose and meaning of life". The wisest man that ever lived, Solomon, had this to say: Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. (Ecc 12:13-14)

Do you want peace in your life? Jesus is the only way to find true peace and hope and courage to survive in this crazy world in which we live today. The most famous king of all times, King David, said, "Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. I will abide in thy tabernacle forever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah." Ps. 61

One of my greatest family heirlooms is a letter dated June 3, 1908 from Sarah Greives Clark in Manchester, England, to her sister, Anne Greives Lowe (my great-great grandmother) in Crowley, Louisiana. Sarah describes how their brother, George, had found peace in Jesus and she hoped that her sister, Annie, had also been "washed in the blood of the Lamb" so that they might meet again in Heaven. Someday, I too, will meet my ancestors on the other side.
