I am a "returnee" to Sullivan County NY after having lived here during WWII to escape the German submarines which were coming into the NY harbor. My German relatives, Anton and Maria Kasten Schneider and George and Anna Maria Ebner Froehlich (Stoesser) were among the early settlers (1840s) in the Obernburg/Fremont Center areas of Sullivan County. They numbered among the first families at St. Mary's Church, Obernburg, NY.
I have been working on the genealogy of my Sullivan County ancestors since the 1980s and have now expanded it to include many families in the Obernburg/Fremont area. Now that I have retired I hope to continue that endeavor.
