If your interested. I found his sister, that was in Robert's obit.
Eulila Lenington Riggs. She died in 1921 and was buried in Hopewell.

RE: Martha & Robert Lenington + more
Thank you! I think that will make things easier (and more accurate) for everyone.

RE: Martha & Robert Lenington + more
But, are your spellings of LENNINGTON taken from tombstones? I don't see any grave photos on your memorials that would prove that.

The original parents of the family have LENINGTON engraved on their tombstone. The later descendants have the same spelling.

If you go to the other memorial for Robert in Morgan, Illinois, you will see what I mean. And
P. Meado (# 47252942) is the memorial manager there. She has all the people's names spelled, LENINGTON. And some of her other memorials have printed obituaries with that spelling as well.

In fact, although I see the alternate spelling (LENNINGTON) in various records, I also see other variations which are incorrect, such as SELLINGTON and others. So, should we start using those spellings, also?

RE: Lennington/Lenington
Yes, Glenda, this whole issue came about because a contributor (P. Meado # 47252942), who has seven Lenington memorials (that are mostly for later-born Leningtons), has the Lenington spelling and has documents (such as obituaries, etc.) that use this spelling. Since it is also the original spelling that the first parents have engraved on their tombstone, it seemed common sense to make all the family members' surnames have the identical spelling.

Find-A-Grave doesn't allow the Lenington/Lennington to be entered.

I think most researchers will readily note that there are different spellings on the records, but I don't think that will deter them from finding the memorials under the proper spelling. It might actually help them because the names will all be listed together in the index.

For this reason, I keep all members of a family with the identical spelling of their surname- so they will be stored together in the Index of Names on my family tree. I am going to change all the Lenningtons to Lenington in my tree.

I hope this allays your concern about changing the name to the original spelling.

Thanks for your reply, Glenda.

Yes, I understand not wanting to post/amend memorials without some research. I am sure your research is more thorough than mine!

Since we corresponded a couple years ago, I have received some info from a distant relative in regards to William Michael, son of Daniel T. Michael and M.E. Arnett of Arnettsville (#50678466).

This info suggests William birth abt 1783, died abt 1821. States he was a farmer, Methodist, and owned 58 acres on Indian Creek near Arnettsville. PERHAPS had wife named Rachel.

But the link between William and my GGGGF Alexander Michael is NOT proven firmly, so I may be barking up the wrong tree.

Thank you for the transfer. I am in awe of what you and many others have done. Of course when I request a transfer I don't always know if the person has a family connection. Would be interested to know where you husband fits in. Thank you for all your efforts.

Are you referring to 109501293? I'm the person who sent it to you, so I'm aware that it's additional info to the stone. But we now know the questions posed in the bio, so please correct it.
