Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For loved ones whose lives are stilled.

Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.

Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.

Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.

Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.

Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.

Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

I am so very grateful!
I know very well the troubles of trying to photo the dark urns behind glass......I can read the urn and that's all that matters, you're an angel!

I want to thank you SO SO much for this photo......
It's been quite the search to find them.
Batistine was married 3 times and I picked up her trail when she was with her 2nd husband in Tacoma, Washington (where I live).

RE: Melrose Abbey
Chris - Thank you! I have 36 Veteran graves to locate. You created about half of the memorials.

RE: Grove
Always a pleasure for you, Chris. Bright, beautiful day; markers hadn't been submerged and covered in dirt. FLC & FLLB both looked like swamps in sections last week.
Yep, still at it. But I'm so damned selective it's almost rude. Keeps my mind off Wash. D.C. - - if you know what I mean. Be well, regards, Charles.

Melrose Abbey
I'm getting ready to start locating Spanish American War Veteran graves at Melrose Abbey.

You posted a couple of photos. I'm wondering if they were taken in the Mausoleum (the backgrounds are different than from the regular marble found in the Mausoleum) or another area in the cemetery like in a niche? See Find A Grave Memorial# 126865249; Find A Grave Memorial# 127437255.

Thank you,
Charles Beal

RE: Joseph Grove
Hello Macso, I was attempting to add the Joseph Grove to the find a grave web site with lists the men of the 135th Aero Squadron ww - 1 for my wife's grand dad and that was the question that I asked. How do I do that. I will also ask Ancestry the same question.

Thanks so much for the photo you took for me of Charles and Fannie Buxton. You were so quick to do this. I really appreciate it.

Thank you so much for photographing these graves. Your time and energy are very much appreciated, especially as I could never have done it myself. Thanks!
